The traditional textile featured in our final products are handwoven in northwestern Liberia by female-led cooperatives in a county called Lofa. The fabric is usually worn by prominent males leaders in society and on formal occasions.

The intricate weaving process gave the textile such high value that it was once used as a currency across West Africa and even as gifts of dowry. Today we are repurposing this truly authentic African fabric by integrating them with these leather goods.

Ivorian, from Côte D’Ivoire. Often called Baoulé or Kita, this is another traditional fabric, a style woven using handmade looms in the region of Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and parts of Ghana.

These fabrics are also still reserved for formal wear, ranging from shirts and dresses to matching bridal or grooms party outfits. In contrast to Liberian country cloth, is usually woven by men.
